Redlands Community Hospital Foundation has received a $100,000 grant from Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer to improve the access to care for cancer patients. A check presentation was held at Redlands Community Hospital on Tuesday, April 3 in the hospital's Maternal Child and Surgery Services building.

Redlands Community Hospital is one of several local organizations that will benefit from the annual Believe Walk, which is held in downtown Redlands. Stater Bros. Charities teamed up with Inland Women Fighting Cancer (IWFC) —an organization created by a coalition of local community leaders Annie Sellas, Cathy Stockton, and Nancy Varner-- to raise funds for patients and their families facing cancer within the community.

"We're fortunate to receive this generous grant from Stater Bros. Charities and
Inland Women Fighting Cancer to further enhance our cancer programs, including our Women's Health Imaging Center," said Zachary Tucker, president of the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation.

Local community leaders and cancer survivors, Annie Sellas, Cathy Stockton, and Nancy Varner envisioned doing something in the community to raise awareness about cancer. During treatments, they had been each other's support group and decided to do something for local Inland women facing the same prognosis. Inland Women Fighting Cancer, a coalition of friends, fellow survivors and supporters was formed

The grant will help support the current cancer services that are provided through the hospital's Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Department and the Women's Health Imaging Center. The hospital's 3,300 square foot outpatient facility provides women with a warm, compassionate place to have mammograms, breast biopsies, bone density screening exams and other procedures that are easier to endure in a comforting environment.

"The purpose of Stater Bros. Charities is to help improve and transform the communities Stater Bros. serves. We are honored to be able to continue to support the cancer fighting efforts of Redlands Community Hospital by providing philanthropic support for the hospital's cancer programs," said Jack H. Brown, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Stater Bros. Supermarkets. "With our support, the Redlands Community Hospital Foundation, along with other local organizations, will be able to combat some of the most critical needs in the surrounding areas."

Stater Bros. Charities (staterbros.com) is a 501©(3) non-profit organization that supports critical needs in the communities where Stater Bros. employees live and work. Since 2008, Stater Bros. Charities has provided funding to countless local organizations and causes that benefit hunger relief, children-in-need, education for both youth and adults, services for the elderly and care for our Nation's Veterans. Funds are raised throughout the year from generous customers, supplier friends, and caring members of the Stater Bros. Supermarket Family.

Redlands Community Hospital Foundation (edlandshospital.org) helps the hospital achieve its mission by raising funds to support infrastructure, clinical services and health promotion programs for the hospital.
