The latest SyncShield version 3.8.3 was released a couple of weeks ago with interesting additions, such as extended MDM support for Samsung Android devices, SCEP support for iOS and bidirectional web services API.
Delivering user specific certificates is one of the issues mobile device management technology has today. For iOS devices we have now developed support for device specific certificate delivery. Using Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol, device specific certificates can be automatically enrolled when connecting to the company network. Furthermore, Exchange remote usage support has been enhanced significantly by full Office 365 support and improving the functionality for clustered and distributed Exchange installations.
In the new release we introduce a set of general features which enhance SyncShield's functionalities. SyncShield now supports SMSs sent in flash-format, directing instant attention to important messages. All activities can be immediately ended for a single device or for masses. This includes all active and queued tasks but not scheduled and reoccurring ones. The web services API is now bidirectional, offering better M2M integration possibilities.
The major part of the latest release is about Android, more specifically the new features for Samsung Android devices. For starters, SyncShield now has an entirely silent installation option. The silent installation works for SyncShield updates as well as application installation and other functionalities. For easier business use, we have implemented extended support for different mail clients, and now native mail client for Exchange is supported for Samsung Android devices. In addition, we introduce certificate installation and VPN account configuration. Finally, Samsung Android devices get the screen capture and remote control support, raising the remote device management to the next level. So as not to forget the other Androids, uninstalling SyncShield from any Android device will now trigger a notification on the SyncShield dashboard.
Summer is quickly advancing and our next release is only a couple of months away. Stay tuned for more information on Samsung Android device support and new development projects
