Google Apps Education is a free IT solution that provides communication and collaboration tools for schools. Google Apps Education Summits have been taking place in North America for several years, but this is the first time that a Summit has been held in Europe.
The event is focused on helping educators at all age levels to improve their skills with Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Groups, Google Calendar, Talk, Docs and Sites. Classes are taught by Google Apps experts, including Google staff members, Google Certified Teachers, and Google Certified Trainers.
The conference is organized by Google Education Partner CloudSource Solutions. The Director of CloudSource Solutions, Dan Taylor, said,“The goal of the summit is to provide teachers, administrators, and IT Directors with knowledge that they will be able to apply immediately in their own schools.”
The Director of IT at the International School of Prague, John Mikton, said,“ISP is an early adopter of many forms of technology, so we’ve been using Google Apps Education for over three years. We have found that it has been a powerful tool to support learning and collaboration across our community. We look forward to hosting the event and sharing with other educators what we have learned.”
Attendees at the Summit will also have a chance to learn more about “Chromebooks”, a personal computer primarily used for “cloud computing” and launched by Google in June of 2011.
