The recognized community service project was a partnership of Turner volunteers from Atlanta, Georgia and Nashville, Tennessee, and students from Fordham Preparatory School in Bronx, New York, and the Appalachia chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Together, the team built a home for a mine worker who had lost a leg, in Robbins, Tennessee.
Students from Fordham Preparatory School have traveled to Tennessee for the last 12 years to work with Habitat for Humanity and in 2011, they invited Turner to participate. With the addition of Turner’s volunteers, and the local purchase of building materials by Turner Logistics, the group was able to complete an entire home in a week.
