With some spare time over the last few months, a bit of curiosity, no experience of game development and no perception of the impossibility of the task, Andy C Watson is now delighted to announce the launch of his first Android game, Jazzlebags AssGass, now available free to download from the new Google Play store.
The game features a cartoon character called AssGass the Jazzlebag, and when he feels his guts start to grumble it's time for you to step in. Launch AssGss by pressing his belly and making him fart (yes, very childish indeed). Fire him at fizzy drinks and then get him out of the exit hole at the top of the level to progress - collect all four fizzy drinks to collect Jazzlecash tokens. Grab golden bottles to float over obstacles and avoid the killer bees at all costs. There are 20 levels in the game including meadow, space, snowboard, underwater and cityscape.
"Towards the end of last year I was increasingly spending time on my mobile phone, watching TV and playing games. I read research that showed I wasn't alone," says Andy. "Consumers everywhere are spending increasing amounts of time watching media and interacting with entertainment on their mobile phones - and now it's even overtaken the time spent watching TVs.
The great accessibility of android games development, primarily due to the rise of html5 and the wealth of game creation software means that with a bit of knowledge and a lot of pig-headed determination, high uality games can now be created by novices in the space of a few months.
"I have a full time job, but in less than a month I was able to release the first version of Jazzlebags AssGass onto the Android Maket - now Google Play," says Andy. "OK, some nights I got in from work and could be building code till three in the morning and the first version didn't have any sound, but it was there and fully working. Now, six or so weeks on, I've tweaked the game, added sound effects and music, and it's a kickass little package of childish fun.
"The two key tools that I could not have done without are Construct2 - which is an absolute work of genius of a html5 game creation package - and PhoneGap, which allows html5 games to be exported in a format that is compatible with the Android operating system."

Jazzlebags AssGass is this one guy, Andy C Watson, who became interested in html5 games and app development around Christmas 2011. With very little idea of what he’s doing for the most part, Andy now spends much of his spare time working on Jazzlebags apps and has just started spreading the word so people can try these very childish games for themselves.
