MGWSP, which combines the strengths of May Gurney, a multi-national infrastructure services company, and design engineering and management consultancy WSP which has more 2,700 employees world-wide, will use Momote’s, MyMobileWorkers app across its workforce of 200.
The app, which is used on mobile phones so workers can log job information while out on the road, beat off competition from three other software companies due to the flexible terms offered, with a pay-as-you-go option, as well as the time saved as a result of replacing the old paper-based systems.
Formed in 2007, MGWSP won the Northamptonshire County Council contract for the maintenance and development of its highways and has since introduced Area Based Working where workers are divided into ‘gangs’ to cover the whole region and offer a more tailored service with regards to maintenance work.
MGWSP trialed MyMobileWorkers across its gangs and saw a reduction in time of around two minutes per job, which equates to an approximate saving of £125,000 per annum. This was as a result of no longer having to process paper updates from completed jobs and manually inputting the information into the works management system. This saving across the approximate 25,000 jobs per annum on the Northamptonshire contract clinched the deal.
Garry Nash from MGWSP said: “Although we were impressed with other suppliers, Momote, with its MyMobileWorkers app, took the time to sit with us and really get to know and understand our business. A Momote consultant even went out with one of the team to fully understand the process in the field to identify how the app would be used and what features would need to be included for our particular workforce.
“In our line of work, the time it takes to complete jobs is a big issue and if we are able to save time in any way to increase efficiency then we certainly will.”
Graham Whistance, founder of Momote said: “Following our initial meetings with the MGWSP team, we discovered the importance of accurate, timely data capture for all of its contracts. It was also clear the previous system was becoming a huge administrative burden. A mobile app in this circumstance was the perfect solution to help tackle these issues. We recognised the importance of working closely with MGWSP to help them roll out this new software across the team.”
MyMobileWorkers (mymobileworkers.com) is Momote’s most recent innovation, taking best practice learned from developing systems for multi national organisations, including Iveco, Autoglass, Harvey’s Furniture and Comet.
