Passionate fascination with flowers and nature typifies the creations of Egyptian-born painter Lilina C. Williams. Captivated by the constant evolution of flowers and other natural phenomena, Williams’ works are poetic in precision, poignant in purity of form. The artist is adroit in her use of oil paints, meticulously applying them in careful strokes on canvas and linen, a support that lends a richly nuanced texture to her works. Bold colors exude a vibrant enthusiasm for the wonders of the natural world, while a commitment to honesty of shape yields a special feeling of intimacy with nature.
A Cairo native born to Greek parents, Williams’ exquisite accuracy in aesthetic is rooted in her youthful immersion in Greek art and culture. Indeed, her interest in flowers and rebirth originates in her heritage. “My interest in flowers dates back to the time when I was growing up in Cairo, Egypt,” says Williams. An international relations professional, she has lived in Washington D.C. for a number of years, and has exhibited her work in major galleries.
