Sydneysider Luke Grana wants to change the way people learn.
With the quality of online videos improving all the time, he's launched Coachy where students can get lessons through live 1-on-1 videos.
Luke came up with the idea while looking for a longboard surfing coach and could only find coaches in the US. He was frustrated that the only coaches he could he couldn't access and decided that given current technologies, this shouldn't be the case.
"I got to thinking with live online videos, we should really be able to learn from anyone, anywhere in the world," he said.
And so Coachy was born.
"With Coachy you can learn from the comfort of your own home," Luke said.
Coachy was launched just under a month ago, initially offering lessons in French and guitar, but with 100 coaches already signed-up it will be launching other lessons soon.
Anyone with a decent internet connection can now have access to qualified coaches who can tailor lessons to suit student needs. The site is still in early stages, but open to coaches and students who want to either teach or learn a new skill.
"We wanted to launch as early as we could to learn from students and coaches what they wanted from our service - so far the feedback has been great," he said.
With half-hour lessons costing $25/hour, the site has been a hit with students. Premium lessons in niche areas are also offered in topics like start-ups and public speaking. Soon they'll be opening up even more lessons for students.
"There are a lot of video lessons out there on YouTube, but from the feedback we're getting people are loving that our lessons are live, catered to their needs and interactive. Better still it's also pretty convenient to be able to get all that without even leaving the house," he said.
People wanting to book a lesson should visit Coachy.com/.
