John Delaney released today his campaign platform,“The Five E’s: Solutions for Maryland’s 6th District”, focusing on Employment, Education, Environment, Energy, and Ethics.

“In these economically tough times, voters deserve solutions, not spin,” Delaney said. “Over the past year, I’ve traveled around Maryland and the Sixth District, listening to what community, business and organizational leaders and activists were concerned about, as part of Blueprint Maryland’s efforts to increase dialogue on job creation and brainstorm viable, diversified economic solutions. That information helped me to set priorities and draft a plan of practical solutions that can be implemented.”
Highlights from his platform include a ten-point plan on growing good, middle-class jobs, further investments and improvements in education policy, ideas for protecting our environment, and a push for a national, comprehensive energy policy. To restore faith in government and encourage the next generation of Americans to pursue public service, Delaney closes his platform with a series of recommendations relating to reform of Congress.

A Delaney spokesperson said,“From the beginning, John Delaney committed to running a campaign focused on the issues, and within weeks of entering the race, he’s put his thoughts and ideas onto paper. His opponent, Rob Garagiola, has been talking about running for Congress since 2006 and to date still hasn’t presented a campaign platform or position papers on key issues.”

A progressive businessman who grew up in a union home, John Delaney has created over 1,000 jobs in Montgomery County, and his company has lent money to over 5,000 small and medium sized businesses that were ignored by the big banks. “I’ve lived and breathed job creation and entrepreneurship for the last two decades. Having rolled up my sleeves and learned through the hands-on experience, I uniquely understand what businesses and workers need,” said Delaney. “Smart government policy has created and encouraged jobs in the past, and it can again.”

Over the next week, John Delaney will travel around the district to roll out his campaign platform, discuss his ideas with voters and offer solutions to some of the most critical issues facing our families, neighborhoods, and businesses.

“While John Delaney offers solutions for growing the economy to voters, Rob Garagiola continues his back-room, politics-as-usual campaign, focusing on special interests before the needs of the voters,” said the campaign.

The 5E’s is available at Delaney2012.com.
