The camp will cater for all levels of triathlete and will cover technical aspects of cycling to improve speed and efficiency.
The weekend is designed for cyclists and triathletes of all abilities and will be led by the BTF Performance Coach of the Year Steve Lloyd and bike specialist Michael Green, owner of Langdale Lightweights.
Coach Steve Lloyd commented “As triathletes we are all generally very good at getting out and covering the hard miles and as long as we are training and training hard we are happy. But training hard isn’t the only way to get quicker at something, you should also be working on the technical side of each discipline. If you haven’t come from a cycling background the chances are you will have got on a bike and just used your fitness to get you by. You may even have gone out and spent a few thousand pounds on getting a superfast TT bike but do you know how to ride it properly and look after it.”
During the course of the weekend Absolute will teaching the attendees how to ride a bike like a pro including cornering, not just safely but also faster for improved bike speed, looking at use of gears and how to use them effectively and efficiently across all terrains to allow improved bike split with a more even energy expenditure as well as safe and effective group riding. All this will be done on a closed road cycle circuit in Lincoln to ensure that the triathletes can practice them in a safe environment away from traffic.
Coach Steve said “Once we’ve had the opportunity to go through the techniques on the closed road circuit we will then go out for a group ride on the open roads to allow everyone to practice these skills as well as get some practice on going uphill but more importantly how to improve bike speed when descending on hills.”
The weekend will also cover practical sessions on bike cleaning and basic maintenance along with how to change a flat tyre, correct tyre pressures which again will improve bike splits and other practical tips to get more out of your everyday cycling.
Athletes will arrive Friday evening at the camps and leave at 5 pm on the Sunday. The cost for the weekend is £195 per person and includes coaching, hotel accommodation and breakfast.
