The new release concentrates heavily on one major addition: full support for Microsoft Exchange module. This extension also gives us the opportunity to introduce Windows Phone 7 as one of the currently supported platforms. Apple has announced changes to its Notification Service Certificate, which will enhance SyncShield use even further.
Exchange has now been fully integrated to SyncShield, enabling increased possibilities with managing corporate connections. The exchange server can now automatically discover devices which connect to the corporate network, and add them to SyncShield. Furthermore, it can block all connections to the network from devices which do not have SyncShield installed, protecting the network from unauthorized access. At the moment only Exchange has the ability to directly manage Windows Phone 7 devices, and SyncShield can now make use of that ability and through Exchange, manage and control the devices. SyncShield’s Windows Phone 7 support includes now all the features applicable for the platform, including information retrieval, remote lock and wipe, as well as setting functionality restrictions for passwords.
Another very important new feature is the support for TouchDown mail client for Android. TouchDown by NitroDesk is a widely used application for mail synchronization and now SyncShield can configure and manage the client comprehensively. Android’s new Ice Cream Sandwich version 4.0 is fully supported including all its added MDM features. Also, data-file support has been enabled for all Android devices allowing pushing and deleting of data-files from the device’s SD-card. Both Android and iOS can now receive browser bookmarks via SyncShield enhancing the sharing of user-relevant information.
The MDM capabilities of iOS have included push notification service from the beginning but unlike other similar services for other platforms, you have had to pay a small fee for the required push notification certificate. Now Apple has decided to remove the cost, resulting in simpler MDM deployment and use for iOS devices. Enhancing the SyncShield use even further, the user interface now supports full translation integration. Companies administrating SyncShield can freely localize the language of user interface for their and their customers’ needs.
We are on schedule to create the 4th edition of SyncShield, with many major developments and a completely revised user interface. For more information please contact sales capricode.com/.
