Television viewers will be able to catch actress Carla Renata in one of her two recurring roles beginning Sunday, January 8th, 2012 when her character Marcie Blue, mother to Rocky and Ty, makes a return appearance on the Disney Channel’s “Shake It Up!” Additionally Renata will be popping up in guest spots on FOX’s “Raising Hope” on January 17th and on NBC’s “Up All Night” on February 10th. On “Raising Hope,” Renata guests as Janice Finklebergstein, an overly empathetic shopper in the show’s first new episode of the year. Over on NBC’s “Up All Night,” Renata’s less understanding security guard character will be making things difficult for Will Arnett’s character.
A musical-comedy veteran having appeared on Broadway in four shows (“The Life,” “Smokey Joe’s Café,” How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” “Avenue Q”), Renata has primarily been known for her scene-stealing comedic guest-starring roles on popular television shows such as “Modern Family” and “Bones.” In her other recurring role on Rachel Bilson’s CW vehicle,“Hart of Dixie,” Renata plays Susie Collins, the gossipy owner of Bluebell's one and only beauty salon. She was most recently featured on that show’s Christmas episode,“Hairdos & Holidays” in early December.
Renata (CarlaRenata.com) will be showing off her Broadway roots on Sunday, January 22 when she performs live in the new revue "When You Wish On a Star," a benefit concert being held at L.A.'s newest supper club, The Coterie inside the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel. Scheduled to join Renata on stage for this intimate concert of everyone's favorite Disney songs are Ryan O'Connor, Christy Carlson Romano and Haviland Stilwell. Additional performers will be announced shortly. A portion of the funds raised from the event will be donated to the children's charity of the cast's choice.
Renata is repped by Mavrick Artists and Luber Roklin Entertainment.
