The West Trenton Community Center, an independent non-profit organization located in Trenton, New Jersey, will host its 14th Christmas Day dinner on Sunday, Dec. 25 from noon until 6 pm. This annual dinner, funded and prepared entirely by volunteers, is designed to foster community relationships and to provide a hot meal for those who would normally participate in nutrition programs that are closed on Christmas Day.
“The Christmas dinner is our largest event of the year,” said Nate McCray, founder and president of the West Trenton Community Center. “It’s a great time for people to eat, to talk, and get to know each other. And we especially hope that helps the families in the community.”
This year, for the first time, members of the First Presbyterian Church of Titusville will assist the Community Center’s leaders by preparing and serving food.
“We are grateful to have been welcomed so generously by Mr. McCray and the West Trenton Community Center,” said the Rev. Will Shurley, pastor of the church. “The center has long provided much needed services and fellowship to its community, and as its neighbors in the larger Mercer County area, we are glad to be able to be dinner partners this year.”
The dinner is free and open to the members of the public who stay to eat as a means of establishing relationships among neighbors. Take out plates are available for $10.
