AAOHN Journal announces name change to Workplace Health & Safety: Promoting Environments Conducive to Well-Being and Productivity
The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc. and SLACK, Inc. are excited to announce that, effective January 2012, the AAOHN Journal will officially change its name to Workplace Health & Safety: Promoting Environments Conducive to Well-Being and Productivity.
As occupational and environmental health nursing has advanced, the Journal has developed and expanded. Over the past 60 years, its name has evolved to reflect the changes in the specialty, including a new focus on international and inter-professional markets, such as nurse educators, researchers, and clinicians. Today begins a new era for the journal.
Catherine Pepler, President of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, said “A title change better reflects the current practice of members, supports business leaders’ knowledge of occupational health nurses’ expanded roles, promotes occupational health nursing to potential members, encourages the publication of more environmental, occupational health, and nursing research, and ensures the continued success of the journal.”
The journal continues to be the official publication of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc. The journal is peer-reviewed, indexed in MEDLINE/PubMed, and continues to welcome manuscripts that focus on promoting the health and safety of workers.
John Bond, Senior Vice President, SLACK, Inc., said “As the journal has evolved over the past 60 years, the new name accurately reflects changes in occupational and environmental health nursing and what the journal will continue to represent and provide to the profession.”
