Luxottica Group S.p.A., a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of fashion, luxury and sports eyewear, today announced that its international sun specialty brand, Sunglass Hut will be marking the start of the new sun season with the first floating pop-up store in Australia crossing at three different locations on the sophisticated Sydney Harbour.
Sunglass Hut, one of Luxottica’s leading retail brands, is the only truly global premium eyewear chain fully dedicated to the sun segment, and it brings this innovative pop-up store concept to one of the top destinations in Australia for fashion and luxury shopping. Currently, the sun retailer has over 200 stores in Australia and 2000 worldwide.

The floating store is designed around the Sunglass Hut circle logo, incorporates a DJ booth and features a transparent fit-out to capture the beautiful Sydney harbour surrounds in a four-day package that incorporates a number of elements to provide a truly amplified brand experience.
“Retail is no longer just about four walls and a door and you cannot go past Sydney Harbour for an outdoor store – you would be hard pressed to find a better setting for selling sunglasses in the sun,” said Chris Beer, CEO, Luxottica, Asia Pacific, Greater China and South Africa.
Sunglass Hut has put together a four-day pop-up package that incorporates a number of elements to provide a truly amplified brand experience.
The launch of the store will be marked by an exclusive event on 17 November at Campbell’s Cove, Circular Quay, inviting VIP’s from around the world and a live performance by a visiting Grammy nominated international pop star.
“We also took this incredible opportunity to engage our staff and ran a competition across Australia, South Africa, UK and USA to select some of our top performers to come in and run the store, to make sure as many of our people as possible could take part in this incredible retail experience,” adds Fabio D’Angelantonio.
The Sunglass Hut floating store will be open to the public at the below locations and times:
Friday 18th November, Darling Harbour, 9am – 7pm
Saturday 19th November, Darling Harbour, 9am – 7pm
Sunday 20th November, Manly Wharf, 9am – 7pm
