Spath will replace departing CEO Sally Prouty, who recently announced her departure.

Spath came to The Corps Network in February 2011, and was soon thereafter named Chief Operating Officer. Prior to working for The Corps Network, Spath served as Executive Director of the Washington Conservation Corps for 17 years.

The Washington Conservation Corps traces it origins back to the legendary Civilian Conservation Corps that built our nation’s conservation infrastructure during the Great Depression. Operated under Washington State’s Department of Ecology, the Corps enrolls approximately 200 youth annually in a term of service to help protect and enhance Washington’s natural resources in places like Olympic National Park, Mountain Rainer National Park, and the Puget Sound. Under Spath’s leadership the Corps has also sent disaster relief crews to Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri, and Iowa to respond and help communities rebuild after storms, hurricanes, fires, and floods.

Prior to working with the Department of Ecology, Spath received an Accounting and Business degree from Central Washington University.

“I’m honored to take on the task of leading The Corps Network while the search for a new CEO is underway. Youth development programs, serving your country, and Corps are now more relevant than ever. Our nation’s economic situation and massive youth unemployment are huge challenges that America will have to face collectively. Corps stand to play an important role as one solution to these problems in the months and years to come as vehicles for young people to obtain work experience, educational credentials, and gain valuable leadership skills,” remarked Spath.

A search to find a permanent CEO for The Corps Network is underway after departing CEO Sally Prouty announced her departure in September. Prouty served as CEO and President of The Corps Network for 9 years, and among her accomplishments championed an emphasis on Civic Justice Corps initiatives to enroll formerly incarcerated youth in programs that would help them re-enter their communities as productive citizens and provide positive examples for other at-risk young people to follow. The Corps Network plans to honor Prouty at its 2012 National Conference, taking place from February 12-15, 2012 in Washington, D.C.
