Color Media Group, LLC will honor individuals and organizations who are committed to diversity and inclusion at its Fourth Annual All-Inclusive Awards on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at The Westin Copley in Boston. This year's special guest speaker will be entertainment mogul Russell Simmons.
As the co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, the first all hip-hop music label, Simmons pioneered a musical genre and turned up and coming musicians such as Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, into household names. He went on to produce movies and television shows (Def Comedy Jam, Run's House), publish two books (Do You, Super Rich) and create a multi-faceted company, Rush Communications, which has ventures in fashion, finance, media and philanthropy. In 2007, USA Today named Simmons one of the 25 most influential people of the past 25 years.
The All-Inclusive Awards recognizes organizations and leaders who are paving the way for change by embracing and fostering workforce diversity and inclusiveness in the areas of Leadership, Supplier Diversity and Change Agent. A portion of the evening's proceeds will be donated to the Color Magazine Foundation, which provides scholarships to professionals of color who wish to pursue advanced degrees.
