Tampa, FL, United States, 2011/10/21 - Voices of Strength: A Night of Expression is an annual event hosted by the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, in collaboration with the Sexual Violence Task Force of Tampa Bay, dedicated to empowering survivors through a creative lens.

At Voices of Strength, survivors of sexual and domestic violence have the opportunity to express themselves through poetry, art, music, dance, comedy, and writings about the journey of recovery from sexual violence and the transformation into empowerment.
During the event, there will be a display and showcase of survivor artwork and jewelry, as well as a speak-out for survivors who wish to share their journey and empowerment. A silent auction will take place to raise funds for future workshops and events for survivors. There will also be a collection of new clothes for the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay’s division of Sexual Assault Services. These clothes will go to rape survivors who receive forensic exams and clothing is taken for evidence.
If you are a survivor and are interested in performing or speaking, please contact Marilyn Bray at mbray[.]crisiscenter.com. All participants will have a 3-5 minute window of presentation, and there are a limited number of open positions.
We would like to invite the entire Tampa community to please join us for this very special event and support these survivors through their journey towards recovery. Join us at The Roosevelt 2.0 (1812 N. 15th St, Tampa FL 33605) on November 6th from 4:00-7:00 PM. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, but admission to the event is free to all.

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay provides a continuum of services for survivors of sexual violence, which includes forensic exams, preventative medication, advocacy, case management, support services, family stabilization, counseling, 2-1-1, and empowerment services.
