NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world has announced that NAVTEQ’s world class real-time traffic service is available for the first time in Russia on an in-car navigation system - the new Alpine aftermarket devices INA-W910R.
NAVTEQ Traffic delivers up-to-the-minute information fast and frequently, accurately reflecting real-world conditions on motorways, main and secondary roads. In Russia it covers around 18,500 kilometres of road network in and around key metropolitan areas such as Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg. Research* shows that Russian drivers want the type of information provided by NAVTEQ Traffic - in a recent study*, 93% expressed interest in having a real time traffic information service with over 86% citing it as one of the most important features on a device.
“We are delighted to bring NAVTEQ Traffic to Russian drivers via the RDS TMC channel for the first time,” commented Ingmar Heck, Manager of Sales and Marketing, Alpine Electronics Europe. “Our new innovative device not only offers accurate routing using the highest quality maps but can also tell drivers which areas to avoid and how to navigate around any congestion.”
Powered by NAVTEQ maps with pan-European coverage included as standard, the Alpine system also features additional, advanced content from NAVTEQ. For example, over 200 photorealistic 3D models of prominent landmarks in 13 key cities help orientation in unfamiliar situations; Extended Lanes and Lane Markings assist in guiding through complex road layouts; and Speed Limits – all of which help guide drivers efficiently and effectively on the roads. To enable navigation through the unnamed roads within Russian apartment complexes directly to the required building entrance, NAVTEQ has also specially developed an Apartment Roads addressing feature which in conjunction with Point Addressing helps get drivers where they need to go.
“The decision by Alpine Electronics to offer NAVTEQ Traffic on this new aftermarket system is a great step forward in meeting consumer demand in the region,” commented Yiannis Moissidis, Vice President Sales Russia CIS, Balkans, Middle-East and Africa at NAVTEQ. “We will continue to work with all our customers to bring traffic information to as many Russian drivers as possible.”
The Alpine system is designed for installation into any car model and is available from TRIA International (the exclusive distributor of Alpine Electronics in Russia) priced at 75890 RUR.
