A new site on the World Wide Web enables pets and people to come together. Found on the World Wide Web at Petlopedia, the site provides access to a wide range of comprehensive pet related information, products, and services: from finding a pet to advertising puppies for sale and everything in between!
The site, described as 'awesome' by Kaye Dixon, a cat breeder for Kasabrook Persians & Exotics, provides resources not only for breeders to advertise their pets (including classified ads and business directory listings) but directs pet lovers to numerous reputable sites at which they can read articles about pet care, select their right pet using pet selectors, and or learn which breed is best for them. Petlopedia offers one-stop online community for pet lovers, said the site's creator, Brian Clark, owner of the Pet Food Shop, in Pukekohe, New Zealand.
"It's a very well done and comprehensive site," said Cesar Iriarte, consultant and developer of Petlopedia. "The site is designed to offer greater breadth and scope than similar pet related sites," Cesar said. "Unlike other pet related sites, Petlopedia.com doesn't just provide links to other resources; it provides helpful online interactive content such as an events calendar and pet forums." he said. Cesar noted that the frequently updated site is also the only one to provide a comprehensive pet business directory for pet clubs, businesses and breeders.
Brian, co-founder with his business partner, Tony Pipes, said he thought of the site after talking with many of his Pet Food Shop clients (breeders) about their need for an online resource where they could advertise their pets. "Although I was not familiar with the Internet at the time, I realized the potential of this vast network for helping all kinds of people, breeders and pet lovers, to come together in one place where they can interact as if it was a traditional community. Except, in this case we have established a site that allows for people in New Zealand, Australia, and the United States to participate in a site that has lots of nice resources and is attractively laid out as well," Brian said.
Brian explained that from the comfort of their homes, members of Petlopedia can, for example, search through the classified ads, talk with other members about pet related issues through the pet forums, and post pictures of their pets in the pet gallery. "Breeders can also participate by posting ads in our Pet Classified Ads or placing a listing in our Pet Breeders Directory. Our classified ads allow breeders, and any pet related business, to choose from various options and enhance their ads according to their budget," Brian said. "But you don't have to be a breeder to use Petlopedia. We also have a resource section to other great informative pet related web sites, for pet lovers and want to learn more about dogs, cats, horses, birds, fish... you name it."
Petlopedia (petlopedia.com) was founded in 2006 to provide an online community where pets and people come together. The site offers a range of interactive services such as classified ads, business directory, events calendar, pet forums, pet gallery, and articles for the pet conscious consumer.
