GE Healthcare today announced that SIU HealthCare has selected Centricity* Business to help its growing healthcare network optimize the revenue cycle and realize productivity improvements. The organization chose Centricity Business for its proven financial performance and seamless interoperability with Centricity EMR, an electronic medical records system. SIU HealthCare joins the growing number of healthcare organizations deploying these two interoperable GE Healthcare solutions together to improve profitability and enhance patient care.
SIU HealthCare, affiliated with the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, is a not-for-profit network of five affiliated hospitals, seven departments and 43 clinics with over 1500 employees serving rural Illinois. A longtime Centricity EMR customer, with specialties ranging from cancer care to primary care, as well as a host of surgical, medical, pediatric and OB/GYN services, the faculty group practice plan currently deploys Centricity Business to support key improvements in revenue cycle management across the enterprise -- from pre-visit patient eligibility verification and better up-front copay collection, to faster and more accurate claims management.
“SIU HealthCare has been using Centricity EMR for more than four years so selecting Centricity Business for revenue cycle management was a natural choice for us," said Don Chenoweth, Chief Information Officer at SIU HealthCare. "Because of GE Healthcare's focus on interoperability, Centricity Business enables us to seamlessly operate with Centricity EMR. We look forward to the versatility and interoperability that Centricity Business provides to help us drive even more efficiency in our business while improving critical revenue cycle metrics like A/R days and eligible collection rates.”
As the next-generation revenue cycle management platform, Centricity Business helps hospitals, academic medical centers, integrated delivery networks and large practices achieve greater profitability by automating administrative tasks and accelerating revenue collection. It is currently used by hundreds of leading healthcare organizations across the United States, including 75% of those in the July 18, 2011 US News & World Report “2011-12 Best Hospitals Honor Roll.” GE Healthcare released Centricity Business 5.0 in September.
Used by more than 35,000 clinicians around the world, Centricity EMR is an ambulatory electronic medical record solution that helps providers enhance patient care and attest for Meaningful Use. GE Centricity EMR 9.5 is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as a Complete EHR on October 28, 2010 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT ®).
“We’re pleased that SIU HealthCare has selected Centricity Business for revenue cycle management, complementing their existing Centricity EMR deployment,” said Jim Corrigan, Senior Vice President and General Manager of GE Healthcare IT. “SIU HealthCare validates GE Healthcare’s open interoperability strategy and the benefits that can be realized by seamlessly connecting clinical and financial information. With the addition of Centricity Business, SIU HealthCare will be able to reduce costs, while enabling more people to access their healthcare system.”
