Course Technology PTR, part of Cengage Learning and a leading publisher of professional, technical and reference materials, today announced the publication of Active Interviewing: Branding, Selling and Presenting Yourself to Win Your Next Job, a ground-breaking new book, that provides strategies to change the basic dynamics of job hunting and offers a contemporary new outlook on interviewing.
Authored by Eric Kramer and written for job seekers at every professional level, this new title introduces an approach called ‘Active Interviewing’ that provides readers with specific interviewing strategies and tools that are easy to understand and quick to implement. The content within this book will help readers to actively communicate their background and experience, and identify how it is relevant to the requirements posted for a particular position. Rather than focusing on typical and well-worn interview suggestions – such as how to answer questions, what to wear, how to give a good handshake and how to project a positive attitude – this book instead focuses on higher-level strategies that have been proven to help with interviewing. Some of these strategies include:
• Actively using personal branding to convey a potent “hire me” message;
• Using sales techniques;
• Developing an interview presentation that powerfully showcases information the interviewer needs to know in order to make an informed hiring decision;
• Implementing an effective after-interview follow-through plan.
Active Interviewing logically introduces this active approach and provides complete assistance and support for job-seekers. It is supplemented by activeinterviewing.com, an online resource that equips readers with access to free interview services such as, one-on-one interview coaching, informative webinars and an expert review of a job-seeker’s interview presentation, among others. While it is impossible to guarantee a job offer, the approach outlined within Active Interviewing can promise that readers will be more prepared for interviews, have the ability to develop an excellent interview presentation, be more confident and less anxious about the process, and when the interview is over, will be proud of their performance.
“Traditional strategies used to prepare for and participate in an interview are no longer effective in today’s hyper-competitive job market,” said Eric Kramer. “Job candidates must learn to approach their job search as a sales process by identifying their value proposition, differentiating their services and using a presentation to clearly communicate why they are the best choice for that position. As the first new approach to job interviewing in 20 years, Active Interviewing addresses the new realities of the employment marketplace and will help readers to master the proven techniques within.”
