An informal workshop on how to use the sun’s power to benefit your home or business is being held on Wednesday, October 12th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the El Dorado Senior Center on 2800 Studebaker Road in Long Beach. The ‘Solar 101 Workshop’ is joint-hosted by Councilwoman Gerri Schipske and Ameco Solar.
The workshop will provide “how-to” resources for families and individuals who want to take specific and practical steps to make their homes and businesses more sustainable, lower their carbon footprint, and save money.
“We will talk about how solar works; the available government rebates and incentives; how to pay for it with cash, lease or financing; and how to choose an installer,” says Schipske. “At the end, we’ll answer questions and AMECO Solar will offer free consultations.”
The workshop is free and open to Long Beach residents. Light appetizers, desserts and beverages will be provided. The public is encouraged to register before October 7th by calling 562-633-4400, or RSVP online.
Topics to be covered during the Solar 101 Workshop include:
• How Solar Works;
• Rebates And Incentives Today;
• Financing Options;
• What To Look For In A Solar Installer;
• Open Forum Q&A.
According to Patrick Redgate, President & CEO of Ameco Solar,“Solar is a technology that has the potential to help anybody who has a utility bill. We want to define, in layman's terms, what going solar is all about and how easily it can be done.”
Councilwoman Schipske sponsors the 5th District Solar and Sustainability Taskforce which will host the Third Annual Solar Grand Prix and Sustainability Fair at El Dorado Park on April 21, 2012. The Solar Grand Prix challenges middle and high school students to create a scale model vehicle powered by the sun.
About Ameco Solar
Since 1974 Ameco (solarexpert.com) has been dedicated to the concept that solar energy is the solution to our energy future. Solar energy is unlimited, non-polluting and free. Its use employs people and recycles energy dollars… dollars that now flow out of our country, adding daily to our national trade deficit. We are committed to providing cost-effective and reliable solar systems and strive to offer the best components available. We believe that using solar energy is simply the best investment available to homeowners or businesses today, since the alternative to solar is just a never-ending monthly expense.
