MiX Telematics, a leading global provider of vehicle tracking and fleet management solutions, has reached an agreement with Grupo Vectalia, through transport company SUBUS; the contract involves the implementation of fleet management technology for the monitoring and management of their bus and coach fleets in the region of Valencia.
MiX Telematics’ technology will offer Vectalia-Subus detailed real-time information about the activity and location of their vehicles and drivers, as well as reliable information to implement reductions in fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
“After a trial period on some of our vehicles we have opted for MiX Telematics as our tool for advanced management of our fleets. This investment will enable us to improve the safety and performance of our fleets,” says Juan Pedro Gomis, Technical Director of SUBUS.
Over the past few years, Vectalia-Subus has demonstrated commitment to energy efficiency and carbon reduction policies. The MiX Telematics solution (mixtelematics.com) is highly suited to this commitment and will help the company achieve an improvement in the efficiency of their fleets and care for the environment. “MiX Telematics’ solutions will complement our training plans for our drivers, which focus on improving their driving style in order to reach maximum efficiency and safety levels as well as respect for the environment,” states Gomis.
Fuel consumption not only brings benefits for the environment, but also for the profitability of the company. With MiX Telematics’ solutions it is possible to save an average of 10% in fuel costs.
MiX Telematics’ solid and renowned experience in Europe’s bus and coach sector as well as its partner’s experience in Spain were key factors in convincing SUBUS to opt for implementing a RIBAS solution functional test on MiX Telematics’ FM Web platform in 30 buses and coaches of different types. Continental Automotive Spain, MiX Telematics’ partner in Spain, is responsible for the implementation of the solution in the client’s fleet and is currently conducting testing to evaluate the progress of the solution against the project’s marked objectives.
“The positive results of MiX Telematics’ RIBAS system obtained in the initial test allowed SUBUS to analyse and establish significant reductions in fuel consumption as well as driving style guidelines of their bus and coach fleets, which is why they decided to extend their agreement with us,” says Antonio Waller, Key Accounts Manager for MiX Telematics Spain.
Following the positive results obtained during the trial period, Vectalia-Subus has decided to equip 115 buses with the RIBAS system in a first phase, prior to a possible implementation on the rest of their fleet.
