On October 4th, Eduardo Balarezo, founder of Lonesome George & Co. and president of Outward Bound Ecuador, will keynote the International Staff Symposium to emphasize the importance of creating shared value for businesses, social and environmental organizations and the community.
Lonesome George & Co. outfits Agents of Change using a hybrid business platform that combines for-profit and non-profit components. Through the sale of apparel, the company stimulates the economy in Peru where it sources organic Pima cotton, uses conscious practices in manufacturing and distribution meeting social and environmental standards, gives consumers the ability to make empowered choices and then invests 10% of every purchase into experiential education programs.
“Shared value is when companies place equal value on societal, environmental and financial success,” said Eduardo Balarezo, founder of Lonesome George & Co. “To create Agents of Change, we’ve chosen to partner with Outward Bound for experiential educational programs have been proven as the most effective method to inspire a true shift in behavior.”
Lonesome George & Co.’s shared value business model has enabled a local cluster of development that will impact youth in the Galapagos Islands.
“Real global change will happen when more businesses incorporate programs like Outward Bound into their DNA,” said Rob Chatfield, Associate Director of Outward Bound International. “We are proud and honored to be partnered with Lonesome George & Co. to inspire and empower youth.”
