Nurses in our community are encouraged to read and discuss selected books on the ADVANCE Book Club blog. We’re proud to announce that the nursing book club is getting even better in 2011! Along with a re-design of the nursing book club, books are going to be featured more frequently on the website. With these improvements, we hope to create an even more united community.
The site will launch its new version in Sept. 14, 2011. It will be freshly re-designed, with new books to discover this fall. New subjects will focus on popular novels on current topics. Nurses can follow along with thought-provoking community discussions on our blog.
The club will feature best-selling books The Help by Kathryn Stockett, The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating: A True Story by Elisabeth Tova Bailey and Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. The Help is now a blockbuster film currently in theaters. Get reading and join in with your fellow nurses.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett, now a blockbuster hit in movie theaters, will no doubt strike a nerve in anyone who reads it. There are characters you will love, and those you will dislike. There are some you will miss once you close the book at the end. And some of these women will just make you laugh out loud.
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese was written by a physician, and you can feel that throughout the book. There are vivid, precise descriptions of multiple surgeries throughout.
