Abdulhamid Juma, Chairman of DIFF said: “DIFF has a vision to nurture the creativity of UAE filmmakers. We invite them to actively participate in the festival as industry delegates, and use the DIFF platform to network with global industry representatives.
“In our strategic aim to motivate UAE filmmakers in their creative endeavour, DIFF has introduced several interactive initiatives and programmes that will also catalyse the growth of the local film industry.”
Applauding the unique perspectives that UAE filmmakers bring to their body of work, Juma urged them to gain a definitive foothold in the international film community with the exposure gained from the festival.
The Dubai International Film Festival 2006 will run from 10 – 17 December.
Going into its third year, the DIFF is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and under the Executive Chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The DIFF is a not-for-profit cultural event, presented and organized by the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority.
DIFF showcases a wide selection of features, shorts and documentaries, from around the world, reflecting Dubai’s cosmopolitan and multi-cultural character. The festival further seeks to celebrate excellence in Arab and world cinema by screening a repertoire of critically acclaimed and award winning films.
