Charles River Analytics announces a contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate (AFRL/RY) for the Networking Independent Basic Layered-Sensing Exploitation Research (NIBLER) program. NIBLER aims to procure state-of-the-art technology to address a variety of sensor processing challenges in layered sensing environments.
For its role in the program, Charles River is developing a software system, Remote Anthropometrics for Pedestrian Tracking and Re-acquisition (RAPTR),“intended to provide a novel set of soft biometrics to enable long-term/wide-area tracking of pedestrians, a highly sought-after capability in the ISR [Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance] community,” explained Camille Monnier, Senior Scientist at Charles River. “These biometrics include a variety of signatures, such as gait analysis and anthropometric parameters— like body shape, gender, age—as well as general appearance data—like clothing color/texture— for shorter-term tracking.” With RAPTR, Charles River aims to provide a key enabling technology for tracking/recognizing pedestrians across cameras with arbitrary, non-overlapping fields of view.
