Meliá Hotels & Resorts has received four nominations for the European Hospitality Awards 2011, promoted by the British magazine "Hotel Management International" in recognition of the leading companies in the European hotel industry. The Spanish company has received the most nominations, after being selected in four categories from over 300 nominations, with the highlight being the nomination of President and founder Gabriel Escarrer Juliá for a lifetime achievement award after more than 55 years at the helm of what is now the leading hotel company in Spain and Latin America.
Meliá Hotels International is also a candidate for the "International Hotel of the Year" award for the Gran Meliá Shanghai (China), an excellent combination of Latino and Asian luxury service; the "Green Hotel of the Year" award for the Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora (Tenerife, Spain), thanks to its efficient environmental management policy, and the "Hotel Service of the Year" award for the Kids & Co by Meliá children's programme at the Meliá La Quinta Golf & Spa (Marbella, Spain), an original concept to enhance the experience for kids on holiday. The hotels will compete with prestigious hotels such as The Milestone and The Langham (both in London), Hotel Missoni (Kuwait) or The Sanctuary (New York), among others.
The winners will be announced at an awards gala to be held in London on November 4. Overseen by a jury of experienced industry leaders, the Awards seek to recognize outstanding contributions to the European hospitality industry in areas such as innovation, design, technology, sustainability and customer service.
