At the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE®) Automotive TPO Global Conference, Borealis and Borouge will demonstrate their commitment to the global automotive industry and in particular the North American market by announcing the appointment of their first local Borealis representative and delivering two innovative keynote presentations showcasing their extended range of polyolefin mobility solutions.

As the automotive industry continues to develop as a global business, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) require that the products and service are available wherever they have production facilities. Borealis and Borouge, leading providers of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, set out to serve their customers around the globe with the same innovative grades and high service levels. Borealis has recently appointed Tobias Allmendinger as Application Development Engineer specifically for the North American mobility market to further strengthen its presence in North America.

To underline its commitment to the US automotive market, Borealis’ North American Team will present at the SPE® Automotive TPO Global Conference, which will take place in Detroit, Michigan from October 2-5, 2011. Members of the team will deliver two keynote presentations at the conference and show their latest automotive developments at the exhibition (detailed below).

Reducing weight, reducing costs
According to Harald Hammer, Borealis Business Unit Mobility Vice President, weight saving remains top of the agenda throughout the industry,“A lower weight vehicle consumes less gas and has lower emission rates – both of which help deliver a smaller footprint and help to save costs, for even greater competitiveness.”

“Borealis has a number of innovative material concepts that combine vehicle weight savings with the same or improved performance. Moreover, we are able to offer significant cost savings by transferring existing applications into a polypropylene (PP) solution, for example PA into PP or PC/ABS into PP,” adds Thomas Wagner, Borealis Business Unit Mobility OEM Manager.

Mr. Hammer continues,“It is with solutions such as these that Borealis continues to innovate as we continue to invest for the benefit of the global automotive industry.”
