PIVOTek, a modular construction company that provides lean and leed advantages, while shortening construction schedules, has opened their doors in Cincinnati and plans to hire up to 235 new local resources over the next three years.
Using innovative construction techniques, the firm is working to redefine the way construction projects are completed by leveraging greener, more efficient, state-of-the-art pre-fabricated units for commercial construction projects in healthcare, hospitality, higher education housing, and in the government/public sector.
“Although it’s relatively new, the need for pre-fabricated construction is recognized and is growing steadily,” Director of Marketing and Business Development, Jim Foley, Jr., said. “We’re looking forward to expanding our geographic base and helping our clients complete their projects in a way that is better for the earth and more efficient.”
PIVOTek is the brainchild of Scott Teepe, who is also president of Forest Park-based TP Mechanical Contractors. The idea came from the work they were doing with Miami Valley Hospital where they provided MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) racks and bathroom units. The end result was a large scale healthcare facility completed largely in a controlled manufacturing environment which virtually eliminated workforce hazards and safety concerns, while improving quality.
“With pre-fabrication, we were able to help Miami Valley finish a 12-story addition without inflated cost and extended time that it usually takes when employing traditional construction techniques,” Foley said.
Based on that positive experience, Teepe decided to form a company dedicated to innovating pre-fabrication solutions, specifically utilizing his MEP knowledge and expertise. Tom Grote, an industry veteran with a strong background in construction processes, also recognized the growth potential of pre-fabrication and he joined Teepe as an individual investor.
The firm is currently located in Forest Park on Kemper Meadow Drive, and plans to grow their workforce based on receiving job-creation tax credits by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority over the next three years. With a strong focus on growing nationally, they’ve recently submitted proposals for projects in Louisiana, the Carolinas, Florida and Texas.
“It’s an exciting time for our industry, knowing we’re on the verge of an innovation that will change the way architects, engineers and property owners look at new projects,” Foley said. “Clients get excited when see the impact that using pre-fabrication has on their bottom line, their time to market, and the environment.”
