Donald Blair, Toronto City Council Candidate for Ward 44, with a team of concerned Scarborough candidates, have voiced frustration with Scarborough's neglect by the outgoing term of council and insists that on election, Scarborough be heard on issues ranging from transit to the environment.
"The fact that infill development, parkland protection, transit and other issues are not given important focus by the rest of council, and that decisions on issues in Scarborough aren't taken seriously, shows contempt by councillors across the City," said Donald. "I will change that. Scarborough is a huge part of Toronto, and I will not stand for its neglect any longer."
Donald Blair, a long-time resident of Scarborough and Ward 44, shares the concerns of the community that "downtown doesn't care about Scarborough".
"It's time that Scarborough unifies and demands, ‘My Toronto Includes Scarborough'," said Donald.
Other candidates in Scarborough have also voiced similar frustration.
Dan Sandor, candidate in Ward 38 (Scarborough Centre), also voiced his concerns. "Scarborough has continually been neglected by City Hall, often in favour of other neighbourhoods. The needs of OUR community have constantly been put on the proverbial ‘back burner' while taxes, of course, continue to increase."
Jim Robb, candidate in Ward 43 Scarborough East, said: "Scarborough residents have been getting short-changed by Toronto Council." Jim also added, "I will fight at Toronto Council for Scarborough's fair share of services for our youth, seniors, communities and environment."
Jeremy Hollingsworth, candidate for Toronto District School Board Trustee, Ward 22 Scarborough East, said: "Within the TDSB, the students and taxpayers of Scarborough have been second class citizens since amalgamation. We need a strong united voice to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Scarborough East students will be my priority number one. I will work for fair and equitable treatment for Scarborough East."
Details of the My Toronto Includes Scarborough plan will be announced at a press conference, to be announced for next week.
