This is part of Pestalozzi’s International Celebration 2006 - a celebration of cultural diversity through music, dance, art and theatre.
The event will form a part of the Black History Season celebrations to be held throughout the Rother district in October, November and December, and will include contributions from a variety of artists, students, performers and cultures.
Nirmal (nirm.co.uk) will also be giving an informal talk on the diaries and will be answering questions from the students and guests and will also be making initial compositions for the day’s entry as well as a workshop for the students.
The Visual Diary project stated in 1996, when he found an unused diary from 1969. In which he started to make a drawing a day, a process which evolved into a drawing about that day's experiences. A project that he has been working on ever since.

Pestalozzi International Village Trust (pestalozzi.org.uk) is an educational charity who’s primary aim has always been to break cycles and change conditions and attitudes that lead to conflict. Today it does this by:
• Providing an excellent education in the UK, in accordance with the Pestalozzi principles (of educating “the Head, Heart and Hands"), and an experience of cultural diversity and global citizenship to young people with marked academic potential, from disadvantaged communities in various parts of the developing world.
• Assisting those disadvantaged communities by instilling in our young people, who leave us well qualified, the ethos of service so that they can support and become advocates for the development of their home communities.
• Fostering international understanding within those source communities, the UK and the wider world.
