BorShape™ - a new generation of film materials with unparalleled performance
BorShape™ offers the polyolefins (PO) film market new opportunities for developing innovative packaging films with less material, greater efficiency and improved environmental and lifecycle performance. High toughness and very high stiffness allow faster line speeds, downgauging of up to 30% and lower energy use during processing and transportation for films that match or outperform the features of comparable advanced metallocene based polyethylene (PE) materials.
BorLite™ - new standards in the performance of Machine Direction Orientation (MDO) films
Based on Borealis’ proprietary Borstar® LLD bimodal technology, the BorLite™ linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) range was developed specifically to optimise the enhanced film properties and production efficiency benefits created by MDO processing technology. BorLite offers step-change downgauging, high impact strength, high puncture resistance, and good tear resistance in machine direction, in addition to lower operational costs and reductions in energy and CO² emissions. It brings trouble-free, smooth operation to the MDO process, giving the flexibility for film performance properties to be tailored.
BorSafe™ and BorECO™ - sustainable pipe infrastructure solutions
BorSafe™ PE100 LS-H for water transportation and BorECO™ BA2000 for sewer networks offer durability and reliability for pipe systems with a long, low maintenance service life. Innovative installation methods allow for faster, more efficient pipe-laying with less environmental disruption.
Bormed™ - dedicated polyolefins for healthcare applications
As one of few polymer companies in the world capable of meeting all the stringent requirements of the healthcare industry, Borealis and Borouge offer security of supply, dedicated materials, additional support and innovation. Key examples include Bormed™ LE6601-PH for flexible ampoules and Bormed™ SC820CF for pouches. BorcomTM BG055AI - lower weight and manufacturing costs in appliances Borealis has introduced a polypropylene (PP) capable of matching the glossy aesthetics of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) polymers - the traditional material of choice for control panels, front drawers and baseboards found on washing machines, dishwashers and spin dryers. New BorcomTM BG055AI offers a significant reduction in cycle time and lower machine weight to benefit both the environment and manufacturing costs through reduced energy consumption.
BorPure™ - improved processability and organoleptics for caps and closures
Borealis has introduced a new family of material solutions for caps and closures. The advanced properties of BorPure™ MB6561, MB6562, MB7541 allow converters to reduce cycle times, energy consumption and cap weight, while at the same time achieving excellent organoleptic behaviour.
Borealis PE and PP for effective blow moulding applications
Borealis offers a wide range of PE and PP grades for blow moulding applications. Borealis PP resins, which include RB206MO-06, RB307MO and RC707MO, deliver transparency as well as high stiffness, good impact and temperature resistance.
Borealis RJ900MO and Bormod™ BJ998MO for thin wall packaging
The thin wall packaging market's need for high flow and good mechanical properties are met by the technical capability of RJ900MO, a PP random copolymer, and Bormod BJ998MO, a PP heterophasic copolymer, both based on Borstar technology. Both grades are contributing to the sustainability of packaging by enabling lightweight packaging and energy savings in production.
Daplen™ EH104AE and Daplen™ VB4411 - ideal for automotive solutions
PP is gaining an increasing foothold in automotive applications owing to its weight reduction, fuel efficiency, aesthetics and unit cost-saving advantages. Daplen™ EH104AE and Daplen™ VB4411, elastomer modified PP thermoplastic olefin (TPO) grades containing 10% mineral filler, were chosen for the bumper fascias on the new Volkswagen Touareg. The materials provided the ideal solution to meet requirements for very low thermal expansion and to yield parts with “zero gap” dimensional tolerance.
Daplen™ EF109AE-9543 and Daplen™ EE168AI-9533 – materials of choice for automotive applications
For the new generation LANCIA Ypsilon, FIAT Group embraced bumper and dashboard material innovations from Borealis to support its drive for high quality across its vehicle ranges.
FIAT approved Borealis and Borouge’s high-performance PP for the bumper on its new LANCIA Y model for many compelling reasons. One such reason was because of the excellent balance between stiffness and impact performance to match the new European crash performance requirements. Furthermore, the good paintability and zero-gap concept achieved through the material’s excellent Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion (CLTE) ensures good continuity with the body of the car for enhanced visual appeal.
For the dashboard, the combination of very good scratch behaviour with very low gloss and outstanding impact behaviour offered by Borealis and Borouge’s innovative grade Daplen™ EE168AI-9533 made it the material of choice for this application.
Supercure™ LC8205R, Visico-Ambicat™ and Borstar bimodal PE – for Wire & Cable applications
As the global leader in plastics for the Wire and Cable industry, Borealis offers a range of materials for use in low, medium, high and extra high voltage cable applications as well as high performance communication cables.
One of the latest innovations is Supercure™ LC8205R for high cable reliability and cable production productivity, improved water tree protection and outstanding electrical performance of medium voltage cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation.
For high productivity and fast cross-linking of low voltage cable insulation, Borealis has introduced Visico-Ambicat™, reactor based silane copolymers. Manufacturers of fibre optic cable jacketing will find that Borstar bimodal PE offers a unique combination of broad processing window and low shrinkage.
