The global design industry continues to grow, even in challenging economic conditions, and Computer Arts is gearing up to make sure the brand continues to represent and reflect the changing needs of the design community; from agencies and design studios to clients, freelancers, students and more.
Key investments include:
• The Design Manual is a new section that’s packed with pro advice, shortcuts, tips and techniques focusing on ‘real-world’ design challenges. It’s a quick-reference bible for designers.
• A new ten-page Photoshop Pro guide completes the magazine’s Creative Skills section and combines core Creative Suite skills with HTML5, Flash, 3D, app and mobile content.
• The monthly cover disc has seen significant investment, with each one now featuring five exclusive video tutorials plus an HD “Studio Life” documentary in association with Adobe that goes behind the scenes at a top design agency or studio, starting with The Partners in issue 191.
The magazine’s also been given a design refresh with more emphasis on showcasing great commercial work in the Output section and focusing on new talent in Exposure.
The new-look issue of Computer Arts, on sale now, features free commercial fonts worth £220 for every reader, in association with Monotype Imaging. Also free with the issue is the eagerly-awaited second volume of The Incredibly Useful Book for Creative Professionals.

The Computer Arts website (computerarts.co.uk) will be relaunched later this year with a fresh new look that brings training content to the fore and integrates with the brand’s social media audience of more than 110,000 people.
The Computer Arts App of Inspiration for the iPad is also set to launch, at the special launch price of 69p. A showcase of some of the world’s best graphic designers, it allows users to contact, commission and network with leading artists directly from their iPad. The monthly Computer Arts digital edition, launched in January this year and sold via Zinio, also continues to grow with every issue.
