The Avery Group and Women of Seasons provides breast cancer awareness seminar in the Triad.

This is exciting progress, but there are still women who do not take advantage of early detection at all and others who do not get screening mammograms and clinical breast exams at regular intervals. Women of Seasons and The Avery Group will sponsor a free workshop on Saturday, October 21, 2006 from 9:30 am til 11:30 am. The focus of the workshop entitled “Journey’s” is to bring together women of different generations and socioeconomic backgrounds to share their experiences with breast cancer.

According to the organization, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), “If all women age 40 and older took advantage of early detection methods – mammography plus clinical breast exam – breast cancer death rates would drop much further, up to 30 percent.”

“The key to mammography screening is that it be done routinely – once is not enough.”

Both Crawford, owner of Women of Seasons and Avery, owner of The Avery Group (averyprofessional.net), are temporarily putting business on hold to participate in an event designed to bring awareness of breast cancer to women in our area.

Women of Seasons, Inc. (womenofseasons.com) came about in February 2003. We began by having monthly fellowships at our church dealing with issues that women encounter everyday. This is a time where we deal with past hurts and together we try and transition women toward a path of healing. We encourage forgiveness and love between each other and within our families.
