The 2010 Frost & Sullivan European Technology Innovation Award in Remote Patient Monitoring is presented to RS TechMedic BV for its innovative ambulatory monitoring device - ‘Dyna-Vision™’.
Dyna-Vision™ is designed to transfer 12-lead ECG data and other vital body parameters via mobile phone network to any remote device such as an iPhone, laptop or desktop PC. Its ability to continuously transmit ECG waveform in real-time is applicable in ambulatory settings, enabling remote experts to provide clinical support to paramedics, so that they can make informed decisions in real-time.
“Dyna-Vision™ brings with it value-added benefits to hospitals, ambulance services and other health agencies in the form of reliable technology sophistication/upgrades, cost savings and reduction in other health resources like staffing, training and general maintenance,” notes Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Arjunvasan Ambigapathy. “A key feature of Dyna-Vision™ is that it comes with an integrated SIM card, which can directly send ECG full disclosure waveforms in real-time from the device to a remote server without any loss in quality.”
This remote monitoring device can be virtually used anywhere, due to its compact size and weight (only 190 grams). Compared to other remote monitoring products in the market, Dyna-Vision™ has been equipped with a 4 GB internal SD (Secure Digital) memory card slot, where acquired real-time data can be stored for duration of up-to 30 days.
“RS TechMedic BV has also gone a step further in designing the product to suit applications such as in-ambulance monitoring of ECG (ability to predict cardiac arrest 6 hours before occurrence), home-monitoring of vital signs and also central monitoring for sleep apnea, where Bluetooth can be used to transfer the data to a nearby computer installed with Dyna-Vision™ Analysis Software,” remarks Ambigapathy.
Dyna-Vision™ has an in-built Bluetooth module to transfer ECG data to a laptop installed inside an ambulance unit. The device can be set to automatically send full disclosure ECG waveforms and trend parameters via in-built Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card using mobile phone network to a remote server.
“This data can then be easily extracted by a remote computer placed inside a hospital or even an Apple iPhone,” adds Ambigapathy. “Dyna-Vision™ is of great value to customers (ambulance services or hospitals) who do not use local laptop, so that patient data can be saved in an internal SD card--subsequently transferred to a laptop via USB connection.”
The new telemetry solution offered by RS TechMedic offers high flexibility and versatility. When there is a need to view body parameters in a local laptop, paramedics can switch to Bluetooth for data transfer. In cases where paramedics are required to alert a nearby hospital about suspected STEMI, they can do so with Dyna-Vision™’s real-time data transfer via GPRS to any remote terminal.
“This ability of Dyna-Vision™ would enable swift diagnosis of a patient at a critical moment, and enhance life-saving decisions,” states Ambigapathy. “Dyna-Vision™ essentially upgrades technical functionality of ECG and vital signs monitoring devices used in ambulance services today, thus addressing pressing demands in health monitoring.”
The Technology Innovation Award is presented to the company that has excelled in the following criteria: uniqueness of technology, impact on new products/applications, impact on functionality and relevance of innovation to industry.

About RS TechMedic BV
RS TechMedic B.V. is a Dutch based developer of innovative and high-quality medical technology. The products, software and services are mainly focused on telemedicine, remote patient monitoring and remote medical diagnostics.
Dyna-Vision™ (dyna-vision.com) is built with state-of-the-art electronics. The unique and patented features provide the health care industry with an effective, affordable and comfortable product. It is proven that Telemedicine is only successful when the products are actually supporting the health care provider. Many products in the market today however create additional workload for the health care provider. Also, the patient is an active part in the process. Many patients are not able to cope with the telemedicine equipment and requirements. For that reason we developed a fully automatic solution that needs no intervention of the patient.
Our Dyna-Vision™ products are used by: Hospitals, Telemedicine Centers, Cardiology Centers, Emergency Medical Services, Ambulances, Practitioner offices, Home Care Health Providers, and Professional athletes.
