In order to celebrate this significant milestone, Kemin AgriFoods organized a two-day seminar, June 23 - 24, attended by more than 300 guests from the animal feed industry across the EMEA region.
A technical seminar, Generations of Innovation: Recent advances in safe, efficient and healthy animal production, presented novel information on a variety of topics to key stakeholders.
Professor Ducatelle from Ghent University discussed the importance of a balanced gut in animal production and explored in depth challenges the poultry industry faces with regard to controlling dysbacteriosis and Clostridium related diseases. Dr. Teun Fabri from DG Netherlands reviewed how the industry is currently managing gut health using medication and stressed the need to embrace novel technologies to control gut health in a preventive way. DMV Stef De Smet from Kemin presented an overview of recent field trial data obtained across the EMEA region with CLOSTATTM active microbial. The data showed CLOSTAT effectively controls Clostridium perfrigens and maintains integral gut integrity.
Safe production of animal food remains an enormous challenge for the animal production industry. Dr. Mogens from Dianova Institute of Denmark discussed key challenges to controlling Salmonella and Campylobacter. DMV Luis Conchello from Kemin presented Kemin's total salmonella control program, addressing the multiple points in the production chain where Kemin's Food Safety Initiative intervenes.
Dr. Olga Averkieva from Kemin discussed minimizing the risk of mycotoxin contamination using a broad mycospectrum binder. Natalia Soares, Kemin, highlighted the continual increase in the cost of raw materials and how Kemin's efficiency products, Lysoforte® and Kemzyme®, can provide cost savings to feed producers. To conclude the seminar, Professor Xavier Ghellinckx from Ghent University, Belgium, presented a general macro-economic perspective on the animal feed industry.
During the seminar, guests attended a lunch on the site of Kemin's new innovation and technology center in Herentals, Belgium. The new facility has added an additional 1,700 square meters of lab space where future innovations for the animal production industry are being worked on.
The laboratory space was strategically designed with an open environment to allow for teamwork across functions within Kemin's research and development teams. The new facility also houses Kemin's Product Application Department, supporting innovation across departments for increased efficiency.
"This new innovation center exemplifies Kemin's commitment to continuously provide new molecular solutions to customers," said Athanasios Katsanos, president of Kemin Industries' AgriFoods division in Europe.
The new innovation and technology center in Belgium is just one of many research facilities Kemin owns and operates around the world. What started in 1961 as a small entrepreneurial venture is now a multinational corporation that operates in more than 60 countries. Kemin's commitment to research and development results in superior quality and well-regarded efficiency of its products. A trusted expert, Kemin AgriFoods is proud to celebrate its 50th Anniversary as the Advisor you can count on.
