MetraTech Corp., the leading provider of agreements-based billing and compensation solutions, today announced the launch of Metanga, its multi-tenant software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based billing solution, on Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows Azure. The launch highlights Metanga’s relationship with Windows Azure and continues MetraTech’s longstanding engagement with Microsoft. The Metanga solution is a key component to help Microsoft’s customers monetize their Windows Azure offerings. Metanga catalyzes and facilitates the adoption of Windows Azure to broad new audiences while making Microsoft’s cloud platform increasingly relevant.
As a native Windows Azure building block solution, Metanga is immediately available and provides Microsoft’s 78,000 independent software vendor (ISV) customers with the shortest path to cloud-based enrollment, billing and customer care.
Metanga presented its solution to a worldwide audience at a Microsoft Academy Live presentation,“Monetizing ISV Applications on Windows Azure” webinar, on June 3, and will also lead a discussion on “Monetizing the Cloud” at Microsoft’s 2011 World Partner Conference in July.
The Metanga solution enables the management of customer enrollment, product catalogs, pricing, promotions, invoicing, customer self-care and payment capture for industry verticals including cloud, business-to-business (B2B), consumptive media, telepresence, broadband and smart grid. It facilitates consumption-based billing for online applications that require more than simplistic recurring credit card billing.
Metanga is unique among SaaS billing offerings in its ability to draw upon MetraTech’s many years of experience developing and operating billing systems for world leaders in service innovation. Metanga’s service reflects a deep understanding of the challenges inherent in billing operations and workflow. The Metanga service has been designed to:
• Guide Users by interactively leading customers through best practices and billing processes;
• Offer Scale by supporting additional requirements as ISVs change business models and diversify;
• Define Usability by an inductive vs. deductive user experience;
• Deliver Support via integrated video and text based contextual help;
• Provide Security & Compliance using PCI Level I compliance and SAS 70 Type II certification.
The end result is an intuitive operational experience coupled with a complete, end-to-end billing solution that empowers faster, easier and more effective service monetization.
According to Prashant Ketkar, director, product marketing for Windows Azure,“The Windows Azure platform offers significant opportunities for ISVs to gain first-mover advantage in new markets. Microsoft is working closely with technology partners - such as Metanga in the area of billing—to ensure that our ISV customers can effectively monetize their Windows Azure offerings.”
"Billing management is one of the automation functions for the cloud that our ISV partners request most often, and we are pleased to be working with Metanga as a native billing solution on Windows and SQL Azure," said Jeff Lear, director, national ISV sales at Microsoft.
“We are excited to be working with Microsoft to enable ISVs to build native Azure cloud applications," said Mark Dudman, general manager of Metanga. “Throughout our deployment collaboration on Azure, Microsoft’s support of Metanga has been outstanding. In our position as a foundational Azure building block, we look forward to working with the Microsoft field sales team in accelerating Windows Azure platform adoption.”
The Metanga solution will be showcased at Microsoft’s 2011 Worldwide Partner Conference (WPC), July 10-14, in Los Angeles. The WPC is the premier event for Microsoft partners worldwide. It provides a forum for connecting with other partners and with Microsoft, and to learn about the latest Microsoft programs, strategies and cutting-edge technologies.
