About the Foundation for International Community Assistance
A nonprofit agency launched in 1984, FINCA is best known for having pioneered the "Village Banking method"--one of the major forms of microcredit--and for leadership in microfinance overall. FINCA’s core product offering remains the village banking working capital microcredit product. But FINCA’s country programs have also begun piloting other forms of credit, such as educational loans, home improvement loans and revolving lines of credit, as well as noncredit products and services including insurance, savings, and basic business training.
