Roma, Lazio, Italy, 2011/06/10 - A validation study of Quark RMR by the Centre de Recherche en Nutrition Humaine Rhône-Alpes (CRNHR) was published on the 6th issue of the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism.
The objectives of the study were to validate accuracy and reliability of COSMED QUARK RMR indirect calorimeter versus the DELTATRAC II™, a well-established reference system, which is no longer available, in resting and post-prandial conditions.
The conclusion of the study shows that Quark RMR is "a valid system to measure energy expenditure in resting and post-prandial conditions in obese and healthy subjects".
Quark RMR is the latest innovation in Indirect Calorimetry (VO2, VCO2, RQ, REE and related parameters, substrate utilization %FAT, %CHO, %PRO) designed to accurately and instantaneously measure patient’s energy requirements and response to artificial nutrition during prolonged hospitalization or admission to the intensive care unit. Quark RMR has been recently found by the scientific community to be the only research-grade device for measuring Resting Metabolic Rate either in clinical or research environment.
Quark RMR finds its natural application in fields such as: Research and Clinical Nutrition, Critical Care & Nutrition Support, Cancer centers, neurological and coma patients, burn patients, transplants patients, Bariatric Centers, etc.
