The event matched last year’s record-breaking attendance figures as over 15,000 Japanese car enthusiasts attended the event at Wiltshire’s Castle Combe circuit on 14th May, making Japfest a massive success.

Organised by Future’s performance automotive portfolio, which includes titles such as Fast Car, Redline, Fast Ford and Total Vauxhall, Japfest is the first of seven shows in the Adrian Flux Auto Series taking place throughout the summer at the UK’s best Motorsport venues.

With tons of high-octane action, the track was packed all day as every type of Japanese car imaginable hit the tarmac, displaying the most powerful cars around. Many lucky attendees got the chance to ride the track with expert drivers from Redbrick Racing, whilst the new ‘Power and Style Awards’ display, in association with Yokohama, pulled in the crowds.

Other popular attractions included the Redline Power Paddock, Fast Car’s Culture Corner and the Adrian Flux stand. Returning this year was The Extreme Drift Battle, run by Maxxis British Drift Championship, which saw key players in the drift world compete for a cash prize. The prize and coveted title of Drift Battle Team Champions was finally won by JDM Garage team.

Building on this fantastic start to the series, Future’s second specialist Japanese car show, Japfest 2: The Evolution, is taking place on July 10th at Donnington Park. Japfest 2 will bring the same highly charged atmosphere to Donnington’s world-renowned track.

With the focus on experiencing the action, show goers will once again have the opportunity to enjoy the thrill of a high speed passenger lap in one of Redbrick Racing’s Ex-BTCC cars, as well as the opportunity to take to the passenger seat of a drift car or take their own car out on the track for only £20. Visitors can also take the Japfest 2 Track Attack Challenge in their own cars to try and beat top times set by professionals on the day. Japfest 2 is an event not to miss out on!

Richard Schofield, Future Group Publishing Director, says: “I’m delighted with the great attendance figures for this year’s Japfest. Each year we aim to make our events bigger and better and 2011 didn’t disappoint. Japanese cars are an enduring passion for our attendees and the continued success of Japfest is testament to the vibrancy of the aftermarket tuning scene and how enthusiastic our customers are.”
