Service Parts Logistics Summit 2006 Revealed Critical Aspects of China's Aftermarket

NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Shanghai, China, 10/03/2006 - Service Parts Logistics Summit 2006 successfully concluded with a large number of attendees who were satisfied by the diversity and the quality of the different speakers and topics of the conference..

Attendees learnt from various fields about Service Parts Logistics as service part organization, warehousing, tendencies of big manufacturers and IT companies. They appreciated the fact that a topic was focused on law and regulation problem. The key points of the day for most of the chinese attendees were that some of the speakers come from europe and share their experiences and know how about the more mature european after sales market.

"The speakers know about what they are talking about because they are daily involved in these kinds of problems and this is very important to get and exchange points of view" said one of the attendee. An other one added that "it is very interesting to get their ideas; they are sharing information during their presentation. The most interesting part in the different presentations is their case studies through which we learnt the various problems that companies are facing and how they solve it"

A panel discussion about "How to close the gap between demand and supply in Chinese service industry" was run by the chairmen for the day, Max Henry, Founder & Executive Director of the China Supply Chain Council (CSCC) and Holger Chasing General Manager of Barkawi Management Consulting (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. They animated the debate and the exchanges between the three participants from Philips, ASML and HMG and the attendees. Hopefully, some attendees were very reactive and ask as many questions as they would like. Some of the questions were really precise and interesting; for sure the other attendees appreciate this.

China Supply Chain Council organized the event with the sponsorship of Barkawi & Partner and Arvato. The speakers came from different industries, as IT, manufacturers, Logistic provider, consultants, from: Karim Barkawi, Barkawi & Partner; Tan Beng Ti, Baker and McKenzie ; Dr.-Ing. Bernd Noche, The University of Duisburg-Essen; Thomas Becker, Arvato Services; Jenny Jin, Great China Group, IBM; Qin Guangyuan, Siemens Mobile Communications; Pong Wong, Novellus Systems; Noreen Chen, Ericsson (China) Communication; Stefan Pletsch, SiemensBenQ´s Service Unit inservio; Catherine Zhang, Huawei-3Com Technology; Jasmine Fei, Naya Technologies & Services; and during the participants of the panel discussion were: David Wan, Philips; Benjamin Tso, HMG; André Van Goch, ASML; Holger Chasing, Barkawi.

Karim Barwaki said at the beginning of the day that "he hopes that the event will become annual". At the end of the day, as the attendees give to the organiser a good feedback about the content and their wants about more events in this field, Max Henry concluded "we hope to welcome you for the next year Service Parts Logistics Summit, and we will also organise some workgroups focused on after sales service and service parts logistic during the next few months".

Service Parts Logistics Summit helped people to get a new approach and some different points of view to manage their service parts logistics. The various subjects and case studies show the attendees how some of the most important companies in China implemented solutions and systems to response to customers needs. IBM, Huawei, SiemensBenQ and Ericsson provide us some interested case studies which were really relevant to understand companies processes and objectives.

In one day, more than 90 attendees came to this first event to listen to 10 different speakers. For all the sessions and Q&A sessions, the meeting room was full and many questions were aked to the speakers. People appreciated the agenda which let them opportunities for networking and meet other people in various fields.

The next Service Parts Logistics Summit will be held in Shanghai in 2007.
