In addition, Samtrafiken provides passengers information to all those connections, among other things on the online journey planner ResRobot. This one has now been switched to the timetable information system HAFAS of the software house HaCon and even been arranged more modern and clearly structured. Background is the gradual switching over of all timetable information systems of Samtrafiken to HAFAS.

The new Internet journey planner ResRobot makes it possible to plan intermodal trips from door to door. Modern HAFAS mobile versions for mobile phones and smartphones of various manufacturers have been available to passengers in Sweden since last years’ October. The Internet timetable information system on reseplanerare.resrobot.se was completely relaunched and went live in March.

ResRobot enables the search from door to door in which integrated maps support the selection of start and destination point. Users may filter the calculated connections afterwards by product or number of transfers. A controller allows the adaption of the latter or the deactivation of certain products for display which is followed by a recalculation of connections.

Connections are displayed as bar chart including the individual parts of the journey. Waiting times at stops are as well graphically highlighted. The advantage: The passengers recognise the fastest connection, the number of transfers, product and provider of the journey at a glance. It is possible to have the connection printed or sent as SMS on a mobile phone and as E:. All providers involved in a journey are linked on the journey overview. Just one click and the user can retrieve additional information from external web pages on individual stations, area maps or services.

The maps contain the technology of the Karlsruhe-based software company PTV. Thanks to the PTV xMap server, users are enabled to purposefully choose points on a digital map by clicking. Ajax technology provides for continuous zooming and swift moving of the visible section. Another software component of the PTV is behind the calculation of car and pedestrian routing. Here, the PTV xRoute is deployed. It always determines the quickest or shortest route between two or more points and computes the distance as well as the travel- or walking-times.

To facilitate orientation for passengers on the new journey planner they find usual functions of the previous version. These usual functions are for example the Print2Web-function as commuters prefer to use this. Also station boards that will be enhanced by real time information soon may be retrieved online for any station.

The user interface was redesigned by Care of Haus, Sweden, and realised by HaCon. The precise guidelines of Samtrafiken for the map layout, tooltips, options etc. were implemented browser-optimised by HaCon who also hosts the system.
