Beginning on October 8, consumers shopping at Price Chopper supermarkets throughout the region will have a new reason to purchase Northland’s line of cranberry juices. In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Price Chopper is supporting Northland’s “Drink to Pink” program – where a 25 cent donation will be made to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) every time a consumer purchases Northland’s 100% Juice Cranberry Blends at Price Chopper.
The Northland/Price Chopper partnership will guarantee The Breast Cancer Research Foundation a $5,000 donation for every Northland bottle purchased at Price Chopper from October 8 – October 14, and will donate up to an additional $5,000, depending upon consumer participation rates. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is an independent 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization. The mission of the BCRF is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for innovative clinical and genetic research at leading medical centers worldwide, and to increase public awareness about good breast health.
In addition to this Northland/Price Chopper promotion in the Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont area, Northland Cranberry Blends is running a national campaign in support of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, which is expected to contribute a minimum of $50,000
to the BCRF. This includes a national FSI dropping on October 1, 2006 in support of the BCRF and the campaign against breast cancer.
“We’re happy to be partnering with Northland for the “Drink to Pink” program, and look forward to contributing to the success of this fundraising campaign and supporting this important cause,” says Maureen Murphy, Customer Services Manager at Price Chopper. “Price Chopper remains committed to giving back to the community, and this promotion is a great example of how easy it is to help others and make a difference – even as you grocery shop.”
In order to draw attention to the program to benefit BCRF, the promotion will feature new Northland packaging bearing the BCRF logo. Bottles will also feature a specially-designed “bottlenecker” on each product, providing important breast health tips and offering information about additional ways for individuals to make donations to this cause. Price Chopper will be supporting the fundraising program in-store through posters and shelf signage, as well as through circular ads. In addition, Price Chopper will feature the Northland Drink to Pink/BCRF promotion on their web site and in their Healthy U brochure, as well as distribute Northland’s “Cranberry Wellness™” brochures in-store.
"The ‘Drink to Pink’ campaign is a great way for people to contribute to our mission of preventing and finding a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime," says Robbie Finke, Director of Marketing for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. "Northland shares our commitment to beating breast cancer, which affects so many women today. Through this program, Price Chopper consumers are given a great opportunity to support the most innovative breast cancer research that will save lives in the future."
