Probably the hottest trigger word circulating the Internet has online shoppers chomping at the bit to get what they want when they want it, for less than the other guy. Zak Kidd, CEO and Founder of SalesVote.com, has taken online group buying to the next level: competition.
Consumers are naturally competitive and victory is finding a great deal. With this in mind, SalesVote, soft-launched in April, pushes buyers to become first movers on a deal they want and then spread the word to their networks. The site offers four deals at a time but with a twist – while each deal has first movers or “Ambassadors,” the deal with the most sales wins the “sales vote” and is awarded an extra discount on top of the already deeply discounted price. But SalesVote goes even further by rewarding the winning “Ambassadors” with a percentage of the total sales back in a cash payment. The deals range from bike tune-ups to drinks at favorite establishments and hotel stays. SalesVote, available today in the DC metro area, plans to roll out services in other cities across the country in the coming year.
Appropriately thrown into the mix of competition and saving, SalesVote incorporates badges to reward shoppers who keep going back for more. If you like cupcakes for example - like every other Washingtonian - you can earn a badge for regularly buying your favorite sweet at the same or different locations.
Businesses currently working with SalesVote include Maoz Vegetarian restaurant in Dupont Circle and Glover Park’s Twins Jazz Club. Already booming, these partners liked SalesVote’s competitive nature and high potential to create loyal customers.
“SalesVote is combining proven business strategies to launch local retailers above and beyond what current daily deal sites offer—we are offering the deals, but we are coupling it with a game based experience where we place Ambassadors behind each deal. This allows for a much broader and deeper level of interaction around local brands,” says Kidd. “It’s easy enough to forward an E: to some co-workers, post the deal on Facebook or text a couple of friends to get the ball moving and a deal winning.”
SalesVote (salesvote.com), launched in May 2011 in Washington, D.C., is a growing group buying site promoting featured deals via “ambassadors” or first-buyers who compete to have the most sales. Fostering loyalty to local businesses and offering deeply discounted deals; SalesVote plans to expand to other cities nationwide.
