Cloud services enablement leader, Parallels, today announced from the Cloud Carrier Forum at Interop Las Vegas 2011 that Charter Communications, a Fortune 500 company and fourth largest cable company in the United States, has deployed Parallels Automation in order to rapidly deliver a complete set of Cloud services to its small and medium size business customers.
Charter Business, a division of Charter Communications, is now able to offer customers of its Internet services a more complete business-class solution by bundling Microsoft Exchange along with domain registration, web hosting and website management. The new Custom Hosting platform allows for multiple packages types such as Starter, Basic, Advanced and Premium that differ on the standard number of E: accounts and web hosting parameters.
Since launching Parallels Automation, Charter Business has added thousands of new Custom Hosting customers and will eventually migrate tens of thousands of mailboxes in its first year. With the new solutions, customers are easily able to buy multiple services particularly domain registration, web hosting, and business class E: which has helped Charter Business to increase customer satisfaction and retention.
Charter Business has enabled several new features and services for its customers by utilizing the Parallels platform and the Custom Hosting product set is ideal for businesses that lack the expertise or have limited IT resources and budgets for their communication needs.
“Once our customers sign up and register a single domain, they can then register multiple domains if needed, and set up a website and E: addresses in a single place using an integrated platform,” said Pete Hicks, Senior Director of Charter Business Product Management.
Parallels Automation automates the full lifecycle of integrated operations and business system automation for service providers — from service management and provisioning to customer self-service and datacenter management. It decreases the time spent on repetitive administration tasks and system maintenance allowing business to focus on growth and profits.
“Parallels Automation is enabling Charter Business to improve the customer experience and increase retention with the latest hosted and Cloud services” said Jack Zubarev, President of Marketing and Alliances at Parallels. “The rapid deployment Charter has realized with Parallels is exactly the value we’re focused on delivering – we’re excited by the time-to-market gains Charter is now enjoying.”
“From an engineering point of view we received a lot of support from Parallels to help us get Parallels Automation integrated and ready for our customers,” says Hicks. “Their support has helped us launch our new bundled products quickly and reduce support time and cost.”
