Norfolk, VA, United States, 2006/09/29 - Cold Air Products, manufacturer of Avenger portable air conditioners, announced today that its popular 60CAP model is now available in a more cost effective 220 volt single phase power supply design.
With the single phase enhancement to the 60CAP, consumers can now save both money on electrical modifications and eliminate the waiting time associated with implementing a cooling solution.
"In the past," says Jim Short, president of Cold Air Products, "businesses that needed this level cooling power have had to spend hundreds or thousands on electrical modifications to handle a three phase portable air conditioner."
The 60CAP is Cold Air Products’ largest commercial portable air conditioner with the power to deliver up to 62,050 BTU’s of cold air. Typically, portable air conditioners of its magnitude require a three phase power supply which often requires additional wiring and costs more to run than a single phase.
Most offices and homes, whether modern or historic, aren’t wired to support three phase electrical equipment throughout the building. The necessary electrical upgrades needed to support the three phase 60CAP required additional implementation time and costs.
"The 60CAP portable air conditioners can be ducted and equip with a draining solution in just a few hours now," Short says. The new 60CAP is one of the only high output models on the market today designed for use with a standard electrical wiring.
With winter just around the corner, the news of more affordable spot cooling is good news for server rooms. Many office buildings, especially older office buildings, do not have the capacity to set variable temperatures for individual rooms or areas. While hot air pumped in from heating is good for the building’s occupants, it can be detrimental for server room equipment.
"Businesses come to us to save money on cooling costs," (name) says. Rather than cool an entire office floor, portable air conditioners allow businesses to concentrate cooling and associated costs on specific areas like server rooms. "With the single phase adaptation to the 60CAP, we can save businesses even more by eliminating most of the installation costs."
