Radware, a leading provider of integrated application delivery solutions for business-smart networking, today announced Telenet, Belgium's largest broadband cable services provider, has upgraded its current ADC solutions with Radware's new ADC-VX™, the industry's first Application Delivery Controller (ADC) hypervisor to consolidate and virtualize its data center for a more efficient infrastructure.
Telenet is the largest cable services provider in Belgium, offering video, broadband internet and traditional circuit switched and digital (Voice over IP) telephony services to 2.3 million customers. Telenet also offers mobile telephony service as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). The company was looking to consolidate its IT infrastructure and adopt a virtualized environment in addition to a solution that included basic load balancing features and application performance monitoring – all for minimal cost. Additionally, they needed a solution that would fit into their existing infrastructure and one which would be a viable solution for both their production site – needing load balancing capabilities – as well as their testing environment – needing frequent configuration changes.
Telenet consulted with a number of vendors in the ADC space. While some vendors offered basic application delivery functionality, Radware won the Telenet bid with its ADC-VX solution as it provided industry-first-and-only capabilities. Radware's ADC-VX enables companies like Telenet to run several virtual ADC (vADC) instances on one consolidated hardware device. For Telenet, this meant consolidating several older model platforms into a single, newer platform that now supports 28 vADCs, resulting in significant savings for the company on hardware, power and rack space costs as opposed to costly traditional ADC approaches. Radware's ADC-VX also provides Telenet with: performance predictability through a resource reservation mechanism to always meet all services/application SLAs; complete ADC instance segregation enabling management, network and fault isolation; instant ADC provisioning for maximum business agility and faster time to market; and resource abstraction for simplified operations and operating expense (OPEX) reduction.
By creating a hybrid ADC infrastructure, consisting of both physical ADC units and ADC-VX, Radware's ADC solution enables Telenet to run and operate different applications and services – both on their production and testing environments – where all benefit from the same resilience and performance predictability levels delivered by separate, physical ADCs. In addition, Radware's ADC-VX also enables Telenet to roll-out new broadband, value added services (VAS) – or set up new services in their testing/staging environments – rapidly, with no risk and with minimum effort.
As a leading cable operator with a MVNO offering, Telenet also required the ability to provide non-stop, premium services to more than a million plus subscribers (existing residential and business customers) as well as to deliver new services to this install base as well as new customers. Powered by Radware's OnDemand Switch hardware platforms which deliver performance superiority, ADC-VX ensures the best quality of experience (QoE) with the fastest response times available to Telenet. In addition, Radware's "Pay-as-you-Grow" approach, allowed Telenet to benefit from total investment protection by paying for the exact capacity they need today while being able to scale on demand flexibly – in terms of more throughput, more services and more ADC instances – while eliminating hardware replacement projects.
