Mr Kaberuka will address the following topic: “Powering the future on Africa’s terms? The role of the African Development Bank and its perspectives on the continents electricity growth potential."

The two-day Power Indaba Summit is a high-level meeting of development finance organisations, multi-lateral financiers, private investors, fund managers as well as government and utility delegations, particularly from countries in the SADC and COMESA regions and further afield from West African power houses Nigeria and Ghana.

Bank approved USD1billion for African power projects
The project director of the Power Indaba Summit, Nicole Smith, says it is vital that current and prospective investors hear from the Bank President: “the African Development Bank are one of the leading development financiers in Africa and the presence of its President at the Power Indaba Summit shows their continued commitment to the continent and the upliftment and progress of infrastructure development in Africa.”

She continues: “The African Development Bank has tripled its capital base this year to $100 bln, giving it greater fire power to tackle the huge infrastructure deficit faced by countries across a continent of a billion people. In December last year, the Bank approved funding of USD1billion for African power projects.”

Eskom’s Brian Dames and Minister Dipuo Peters
Power Indaba runs parallel to the African Utility Week conference and exhibition which features Eskom’s CEO Brian Dames and the South African Minister of Energy, Elizabeth Dipuo Peters as headline speakers.
